Gabriella Mahan, MA, LPC Associate

Gabriella Mahan—who goes by Gabi—is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate) who specializes in treating adolescents and adults struggling with Eating Disorders, disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and other related disorders. In addition, Michael D. Soderstrom, MA, LPC-S, owner of Houston OCD Counseling, has trained Gabi to effectively treat individuals struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

She completed her undergraduate career at The University of Texas at Austin, and obtained a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in Global Business. She then went on to obtain her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. She has worked with a variety of different populations, including but not limited to: children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

As the rate of individuals affected by Eating Disorders continues to grow, a great need for qualified treatment providers in the field exists. Therefore, Gabi is currently in the process of studying to acquire her Certified Eating Disorder Professionals (CEDS) Certification to better serve a population in great need.

An eating disorder warrior herself, she understands the complexities of the illness and how life altering it can be. She prides herself in creating a safe, compassionate, and welcoming environment for all of her clients. Her goal is to help you see yourself as more than a body, and wants you to know that she will be there to help you navigate recovery every step of the way.

During her graduate career, she worked with middle school children within the Houston Independent School District and helped them process copious amounts of familial trauma. In addition, she helped kids heal from a variety of issues such as: suicidality, domestic violence, sexual assault, and much more. She also conducted various therapy sessions in Spanish, allowing parents to be part of the therapeutic process with their kids.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, and half-Peruvian, Gabi is a self-love junkie, who’s favorite foods include a Hopdoddy burger with truffle fries and a milkshake! She loves the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and enjoys cuddles with her cat, Ryder.
